Pesky Chemicals
The word Xeno means strange of foreign. Xenoestrogen is the name given to environmental pollutants and chemicals, that are capable of disrupting biological processes.
Chemicals in our environment, makeup, food, and cleaning needs, can add Estrogen Mimickers to our already stressed bodies.
- They mimic the effects of a women's own natural estrogen, and interfere with the balance of estrogen and progesterone in her body.
- Because xenoestrogens are taken up by the estrogen receptor sites in the body they disrupt the natural functioning of the body, and give rise to estrogen dominance.
- Xeno oestreogens are man-made substances that are foreign to out body, and have a hormone like effect.
These chemicals behave like aggressive estrogen and further throw hormonal levels off balance. They often begin creating problems in young girls, and can be one of the reasons for early puberty.
Common Sources of Xeno-estrogens:
- Synthetic estrogens and progestins, as are found in oral contraceptives and conventional hormone replacement therapies.
- Commercially Grown Animal Products that contain added hormones or pesticide residues (this includes most meat and dairy products sold in grocery stores).
- Commercially Grown Vegetables which contain pesticide residues.
- Car Exhaust.
- Almost all plastics, especially when plastics become hot or are heated.
- Petrochemical Compounds found in almost all creams, lotions, soaps, shampoos, mineral oil, perfume, hair spray, room deodorizers, new carpet, cooking with plastic.
- Stress.
While it is impossible to eliminate all Xeno-Oestrogens from our environment, it is possible to limit the amount we are exposed to by implementing the following guidelines:
- Use glass or ceramics whenever possible to store food and water
- Heat food up in the microwave in glass or ceramic covered dish
- Use a simple detergent with less chemicals. This includes laundry detergents and household cleaners
- Use organic soaps, shampoo and personal care products.
- Use natural pest control not pesticides
- Don't use herbicides instead use a cup of salt in 4ltr of vinegar
- Wear natural fibres
- Buy hormone free organic meats
- Buy organic produce, vegetables and fruits grown without pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizes or hormones
- Use anti-oxidant supplementation of Vit A,C,E to combat Xeno-Estrogen effects
- Use supplements of DIM or Indol Componants to down regulate Estrogens Eat Broccoli Cabbage etc.
- Use condoms without spermicides instead of birth control
- Avoid parabens used in skin lotions.Check the ingredients.
